Let's set a record: Ukrainians working in Poland transferred 100 billion hryvnia home
The volume of transfers home from Poland to Ukrainian workers increased by more than one and a half times in 2017, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Bartosz Cichocki during the XI Europe-Ukraine Forum in Rzeszow (Poland), Polish Radio reports.
“If in 2016 Ukrainian workers transferred home 8 billion zlotys, then the latest data from our central bank shows that in 2017 already 13 billion zlotys were transferred - this is about 100 billion hryvnia,” the diplomat noted.
“Of course, this is not charity at all - this is money earned by these people, but Poland provided an opportunity to earn this money,” the diplomat added.
According to Polish politicians and officials, up to 2 million Ukrainians work in Poland.
At the same time, in 2017, Ukrainian labor migrants transferred the most money home from Russia.
