After the activation of NATO, artillerymen in Crimea received the latest ammunition
In Crimea, the 8th separate artillery regiment of the Russian Armed Forces received 2F65 MSTA-B howitzers with Krasnopol guided ammunition, as well as new tractors for them.
The Izvestia newspaper reports this with reference to its source in the Russian Ministry of Defense, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The publication notes that Krasnopol ultra-precision ammunition with laser target designation is located using the Orlan-30 drone. They were successfully tested during the fighting in Syria.
“In conjunction with UAV target designators, Krasnopoli are especially effective. Previously, it was necessary to have a gunner nearby the target. This is not always possible, especially if the object is behind enemy lines. You cannot “illuminate” a ship with a laser when it is far from the shore. Now, you can send a drone with a laser control system on a dangerous mission: ground obstacles and terrain will not interfere with it,” said military expert Dmitry Boltenkov.
Earlier, the 8th separate artillery regiment, stationed near Simferopol, updated its rocket artillery - instead of the Grad MLRS, modern Tornado-G systems with an increased fire range and the ability to operate as part of an automated control system took over combat duty.
“The Russian group in Crimea is constantly growing - in proportion to the increasing activity of the United States and NATO. And the flights of American B-52 strategic bombers in the Black Sea, in fact, accelerate this process,” Colonel Vladimir Anokhin, vice-president of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems, told the publication.
