This was stated by the leader of “Svoboda” Oleg Tyagnibok, reports the Kyiv website 24today.net.
Tyagnibok said that he filed a lawsuit against the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov for his words about Svoboda’s involvement in the death of National Guard soldiers.
“We have already filed appropriate appeals and are preparing lawsuits regarding violation of our constitutional rights. After all, there is a presumption of innocence. The Minister of Internal Affairs, as the highest official representing the legal system of the Ukrainian state, is obliged to respect rights,” he said.
Tyagnibok noted that there are many procedural violations in the detention of activists, the treatment of those who are suspected or those who are witnesses.
“If the government allows itself to mock, break the law, humiliate and tries to “close down” public figures known in society, then you can imagine what the government will do to ordinary people... The government is preparing for a big dictatorship,” Tyagnibok.
He offered his condolences to the families of the National Guardsmen who died during the clashes near the Verkhovna Rada building on August 31, but stressed that Svoboda was not involved in these riots.
Tyagnibok noted that “Svoboda” organized a peaceful rally, to which most party activists came with children. He believes that the authorities used Svoboda members for provocations.
Tyagnibok said that he filed a lawsuit against the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov for his words about Svoboda’s involvement in the death of National Guard soldiers.
As PolitNavigator reported, during the clashes near the Rada on August 31, three National Guard soldiers were killed. On Wednesday, September 3, the Pechersky District Court of Kiev chose a preventive measure for all detained Svoboda members.
