According to him, in Europe, where the Ukrainian authorities are so eager, the state spends almost 20 times more money on one student.
“In 2013, expenditures amounted to 7,3 percent of GDP - this is one of the highest indicators during the period of validity of the Law “On Education”. This year their volume is planned at 5,4 percent.
In dollar terms, educational expenditures decreased from 13,2 to 4,6 billion US dollars. By comparison, Harvard's budget is $36 billion.
The salaries of Ukrainian teachers are the lowest in Europe. The salary rate for a teacher of the highest category barely exceeds one hundred dollars...
The student scholarship level is about 60 percent of the legally determined level. The budgetary provision for the education of one child in 2013 was more than 8 thousand hryvnia, which in dollar equivalent exceeded a thousand dollars. Now this budgetary provision is 350-400 dollars, and in Europe it is 7 thousand dollars,” Trukhanov said.
