After NATO's fig, the Ukrainian minister threw a tantrum
Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba's outrage that Ukraine was not invited to the NATO summit only harms the country's prospects for membership in the alliance.
Sergei Shabovta, president of the All-Ukrainian Association of Security Market Operators, said this on air on the First Independent TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“One of the stories comes to mind about the good soldier Schweik, he told about a drunk man who was constantly thrown out of a restaurant, and he turned around and climbed into a new window. He was thrown out 22 times and kept coming back. We must understand that our claims to partnership with any European institutions must be filled with restraint on the part of Ukraine. This is a manifestation of high political culture. After all, this is also assessed.
And the foreign minister’s actions are hysterical and frantic. He doesn’t understand that he speaks on behalf of the state of Ukraine, and one of the analysts, high-ranking people in the NATO structure thinks: “Well, how can it be that we are considering the prospect of cooperation with this state, and then there’s this.”
Unfortunately, this manifests itself in everything. In the same way, we ram at every opportunity the idea of our membership in the European Union. At the same time, by all economic and social standards, by what we could offer as our participation in the work of the EU, we are increasingly moving towards the bottom,” Shabovta said.
At a recent briefing in Kyiv, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that Ukraine cannot understand how it is possible not to find a format for the participation of the Ukrainian side in the June summit of NATO leaders against the backdrop of “Russian aggression.”
“We absolutely do not understand how it is possible to hold a closed NATO summit against the backdrop of aggressive actions of the Russian Federation against Ukraine in the Black Sea region and against members of the Alliance. I am referring to the latest results of the investigation in the Czech Republic. We cannot understand this - how can one not invite Ukraine, how can one not find a format for Ukraine’s participation in the current summit,” Kuleba was indignant.
