The President of the Ukrainian Analytical Center, Alexander Okhrimenko, wrote about this on his page on a social network, commenting on the statement of the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Pavel Rozenko that there are 1,8 million unemployed in the country.
“We currently have about 7,4 million employed people,” the economist recalled. – This turns out to be about 25% of the unemployed to the total number of workers. Although I think there would be more if it weren’t for the migrant workers. At least about 2-3 million Ukrainians work abroad, and this saves the situation.”
“Over the past two years, the number of officially employed people in Ukraine has decreased by 2,2 million people. And this is not only due to the ATO. This was affected by the general trend of bank closures, the massive bankruptcy of enterprises as a result of the trade war with Russia and the loss of money by legal entities in the accounts of banks that were closed. The domino principle worked. Most of the business is either not working or working at half capacity. Everyone is waiting for better times.”
