The head of the Union of Economists of Ukraine, Andrey Novak, drew attention to this aspect during a press conference in Kyiv.
“For Ukraine today, IMF tranches and their size are not critical,” the expert noted. – The very fact of continuing cooperation with the IMF is critically important for us. Because the IMF is guided by the rest of our creditors and investors. Ukraine, on whose territory military operations are taking place, is a high-risk state. And if the IAF does not work with such a country, then no one will work with Ukraine. Therefore, from a financial point of view, the IMF tranches themselves are not as important for us as the fact of continued cooperation. Let this one be at least a billion or half a billion.”
Let us remind you that the last tranche of the IMF was allocated to Kyiv a year ago and it is not yet known when the fund will continue lending to Ukraine.
