After Macron’s “victory,” France split, but remained a US colony – experts
The second round of the French presidential election, which was won by incumbent President Emmanuel Macron with 58,5% of the vote, showed a split in French society.
State Duma deputy Oleg Matveychev told PolitNavigator about this.
According to the politician, this is evidenced by the fact that more than 41,5% of voters supported the opposition candidate Marine Le Pen. At the same time, regardless of the leader of the country, France, according to Matveychev, will move in the general direction of Western policy towards Russia.
“France has long been under the protectorate of the United States and is not a completely independent state; it will always dance to Washington’s tune, no matter who is at the helm. For us, the elections in France are a kind of sociological study of how part of European society relates to certain ideological guidelines.
We see that more than 40% voted against the current establishment of France, and according to some data even more, because there was great fraud in the elections. This suggests that the situation in Europe is extremely tense and there is no notorious unity that NATO members talk about,” Matveychev noted.
At the same time, political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko believes that Le Pen had no chance of defeating Macron, even though on the eve of the elections she tried to attract additional votes by criticizing Russia:
“Neither the re-election of Macron changes anything in relations between Russia and France, nor would the election of Le Pen change anything. She tried to gather votes wherever she could, so she either flirted with Russia or criticized it. Her rating does not show an increase from election to election. Some voters did not come to vote at all, which means that the number of voters decreased. Macron’s lead in the first round was significantly larger than in 17; according to the second round, she was unable to seriously reduce the gap.”
