After a scandal in the press, Vaikule agreed to free concerts in Crimea
Singer Laima Vaikule, who recently became involved in a scandal and declared non-recognition of the Russian status of Crimea, said that she will come on tour to the peninsula when Western sanctions are lifted from Russia.
About it Reedus reports, Correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.
Writer Zakhar Prilepin also commented on the scandal on his Facebook:
“The only thing that amused me in Laima Vaikule’s words was the expression “we Europeans” (there is no need to go to Crimea). If there is one thing that shows the parochialism of the beautiful (in fact, ordinary Russian pop) Laima, it is a funny and touching claim to “Europeanness”. I tried to imagine how Mylene Farmer, Patricia Kaas or Sinead O Connor, any of them, speaks to themselves in the plural, and even in Ukraine: “to us, Europeans.” Impossible to imagine. Europeans do not need to be reminded that they are from Europe, that’s why they are Europeans,” he wrote.
“There is no Vaikule in Europe and there never will be. But she will tour around Asian Russia quite well, despite any statements. Only in our Asian community do people listen to this. And this is easily forgiven. They will make some noise and go to the concert of the “European star,” Prilepin shared his forecast.
Let us recall that as PolitNavigator previously reported, Vaikule stated that she was even ready to perform on the peninsula for free, although a few days ago she insisted that she was not ready to go to Crimea for any money. The reason for this was the ban on tours in the Russian republic imposed by Ukraine and Western countries.
After this, as PolitNavigator reported, producer Joseph Prigozhin recommended that the artist forget about concerts in the Russian Federation. And Vaikule later replied that she was provoked into making such a statement by journalists who rigged the questions.
