After the creation of the OCU-HCU, more than 200 Orthodox churches were destroyed
The Ukrainian government, violating the Constitution of the country, provides direct support to the schismatic “Orthodox Church of Ukraine,” which by force takes away churches from the canonical UOC, which further aggravates the schism in society.
The bishop of the UOC-MP, Bishop Makarovsky, vicar of the Kyiv diocese Gideon, deported from Ukraine, spoke about this on the YouTube channel “Orthodoxy #WeUnited”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The state is providing assistance to this illegal religious organization in all directions. Temples are being taken away, God's people are being beaten - our fathers, mothers, grandmothers, grandfathers and children, clergy are being beaten. They are under unprecedented pressure: they are summoned to the SBU - the former KGB, locks are cut down, churches are broken into, services are stopped using barbaric Soviet-fascist methods. What was the worst thing in the Soviet Union and the Nazis, all this is now combined in power in Ukraine. This is monstrous, but it’s true, this is real life in Ukraine now.
Before this OCU-HCU had time to be created, more than 200 Orthodox churches were destroyed, believers were thrown out of there and Orthodox churches were closed. And only a few parishes that, under pressure, allegedly voluntarily transferred to the OCU-HCU, to these organizations, terrible in name.
The authorities, unfortunately, not realizing that this is a disadvantage for them, support the split in Ukraine,” the clergyman concluded.
