The memorandum signed in Britain, which provides for the re-equipment of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the decommissioning of missile boats to Ukraine on credit, is extremely beneficial for London, but is predatory towards the Ukrainians.
Ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Spiridon Kilinkarov spoke about this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“After the successful testing of the Russian Zircon (Russian hypersonic anti-ship cruise missile - ed.), hypersonics, I think the British would be ready to sell us (Ukraine - ed.) half of their fleet. Because in principle it is not needed.
This is a situation when firearms appeared, and you look at your old worn-out bow and arrows and think, maybe someone else can shove it in? They took it today and shoved it in.
Tell me, what strategic problem can these boats solve? Given the presence of modern weapons, given the geopolitical situation in which Ukraine finds itself. If you take out loans, I emphasize that these ships are not given to us, they give us a loan, for which they will build these ships themselves, pay for them, create jobs, Ukraine will purchase these ships.
I have a question: why, to solve what geopolitical problem, are we spending 1,2 billion with interest, to solve what? Perhaps there should be some clear purpose for funding?” – the ex-deputy was indignant.
“Why can’t they be built near Nikolaev?” – asked journalist and TV presenter Evgeny Popov.
“Because, firstly, no one gives loans for Nikolaev, and they won’t. Because there are no fools. We only have idiots who don’t understand what Ukraine’s national interest is.
