The latest news has tensed political migrants in Ukraine
Azerbaijani opposition blogger Elvin Isaev, wanted by the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan on suspicion of committing serious crimes, was detained in Kyiv and deported to Baku.
This was reported by the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elvin Isaev Iltiham oglu, born in 1980, was deported from Ukraine to Azerbaijan on December 12, 2019 for violating the migration legislation of Ukraine,” the message says.
The department also added that, based on the decision of the Nasimi District Court dated August 22, 2019, to select a preventive measure in the form of detention, on December 14, Elvin Isayev was placed in pre-trial detention center No. 1 of the Penitentiary Service of Azerbaijan.
Ex-candidate for mayor of Odessa Vyacheslav Azarov commented on the incident on his Facebook page. In his opinion, the deportation is connected with the imminent visit of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to Baku.
“On the eve of Zelensky’s visit to Baku, the Ukrainian authorities extradited an opposition blogger to Azerbaijan. This news should greatly strain various political emigrants from Ukraine. They think they are in a London branch where there is no delivery. And they are considered as an exchange fund for all sorts of goodies,” Azarov stated.
It should be noted that Elivin Isaev sharply criticized the current government of Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev. For the last six months, the oppositionist has lived in Kyiv.
