And this is after the terrible fires that plagued Odessa after the tragedy of May 2, 2014: in the summer of 2017, the Victoria children’s camp burned down, where three children died, and in August of this year, a fire in the Tokyo Star hostel claimed nine lives,” the publication recalls. .
According to college students, the fire alarm did not work and the evacuation took place in panic. And no one denies that the source of the fire was an electrical appliance, since there was practically no heating in the building, as in many buildings in the Odessa region.
“There is no heat, in turn, due to the debts of the population, and also because gas, due to the technical features of the Ukrainian gas transportation system, does not always reach the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine. People compensate for the lack of heat with electricity, and the equipment cannot cope with the multiply increased load. In other words, a catastrophic fire in a century-old building with wiring and wooden floors unsuitable for such loads was programmed by Ukrainian reality itself,” the newspaper emphasizes.
RG also cites the words of Odessa journalist Yuri Tkachev, who described the incident as “degradation.”
“And you know, that situation when it’s unclear what to grab onto. Everything has already rotted to such an extent that there is nowhere to put patches - just holes. The state does not work like a state, but more and more resembles an amateur activity group at a school for mentally retarded teenagers with criminal tendencies. That’s the problem,” Tkachev said on his blog.
