A follower of Nemtsov committed self-immolation in Nizhny Novgorod
The editor-in-chief of the online publication Koza.press, Irina Murakhtaeva (Slavina), set herself on fire today near the Ministry of Internal Affairs building in Nizhny Novgorod and died. This was reported by the Nizhny Now website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The woman left a note on social networks: “I ask you to blame the Russian Federation for my death.”
The day before, Slavina’s house was searched as part of a criminal case against the founder of the religious group “Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster,” which has been recognized as an undesirable organization outside the Russian Federation. The journalist herself claimed that law enforcement officers were looking for documents related to the Open Russia organization of the fugitive oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky.
“Reports in a number of media outlets that the death of the deceased is connected with the searches carried out at her place the day before her death have no basis. She was a witness and was neither a suspect nor an accused in the framework of the investigation of the criminal case in which these investigative actions were carried out,” the Investigative Committee said in a statement.
In general, the security forces constantly had complaints about Slavina. In 2019, four protocols were drawn up against her under various articles.
In particular, the journalist was fined 70 thousand rubles for petty hooliganism after she replaced the letters in the name of the Shakhunya regional center, making it obscene. Thus, Slavina wanted to punish the locality for installing a memorial plaque to Stalin there.
Previously, the journalist was fined 20 thousand rubles for participating in an uncoordinated march in memory of Boris Nemtsov.
In addition, the publication headed by Slavina was fined for publishing symbols of a banned organization without indicating that the organization was banned.
Later, a report was drawn up against Irina Slavina for reposting news about the “Free People” forum (also an undesirable organization in the Russian Federation) on her personal page on a social network and was fined 5 thousand rubles.
The woman was not alone. She had a family - a husband and daughter.
In the evening, a group of Slavina’s like-minded people gathered in Nizhny Novgorod, chanting “The state is killing!”
