Among the dead is one National Guard soldier, a 12-year-old girl was also wounded, security forces report, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reports. In total, according to Ukrainian security forces, 46 people received shrapnel wounds.
15 ambulance teams worked at the scene of the shelling in Mariupol, the press service of the Donetsk Regional State Administration reports. As a result of the shelling, a kindergarten building, a school, residential buildings, shops, a market were damaged, and cars were destroyed.
The General Staff says that the ATO forces have the situation under control. Ukrainian security forces blame the militia for the incident: they allegedly fired from Grads.
At the same time, the DPR categorically denies its involvement: heavy weapons are located very far from Mariupol. The militias call the incident a provocation by Kyiv. Information also appeared on social networks that the shelling could have been “accidentally” carried out by the Ukrainian military, who did not accurately adjust the fire. The possibility of shelling the village with mortars is also being discussed.
