They decided to cover up the Moldovan minister with the Russian ambassador
The Moldovan Foreign Ministry, having called the Russian Ambassador on the carpet in connection with his trip to Transnistria, wanted to hush up the scandal surrounding Foreign Minister Aureliu Ciocoi, who allowed himself a number of resonant statements regarding the Transnistrian conflict.
The chairman of the union of veterans of the Dniester battalion, Sergei Leshchenko, stated this on the TSV television channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Recently, their Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration said that Moldova itself is to some extent to blame for the events of 92. The question of a vote of no confidence immediately arose. Now we need to play back. They said that “we are there for make-believe,” and those that “we are here for pretend,” Leshchenko explained.
Aureliu Ciocoia said at a recent press conference that Russia prevented bloodshed on the Dniester in 1992. This caused outrage among various right-wing and radical forces in Moldova. But the minister did not stop and in his next public statement he blamed the conflict on Moldovan politicians, who, in his opinion, provoked the secession of Transnistria from Moldova in 1989. As a result, the pro-European ACUM bloc in parliament is now demanding the resignation of the minister.
Shortly after the motion of no confidence was introduced, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry announced recommendations to the Russian Ambassador in Chisinau Oleg Vasnetsov not to take part in political events held in Transnistria. This position was stated by the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Dumitru Solocan at a meeting with a Russian diplomat.
