The Ambassador of Belarus was given an ugly scene on the Ukrainian border
Lieutenant Colonel of the Ukrainian Border Service Gorobets created an ugly scene for the Ambassador of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol, who was traveling along with 11 other embassy employees across the Moldovan border.
Gorobets led the diplomat into the office and, without removing the machine gun from his shoulder, said in Ukrainian: “The head of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Sergei Daineko, ordered to convey warm greetings and 30 pieces of silver to your head of the State Border Service, Lieutenant General Lappo. That's an order. Hand this to Lappo with contempt.”
While delivering this monologue, Gorobets poured some coins into a bag and tried to hand it to Falcon. The entire scene was filmed.
“This is an order for you, but not for me,” replied the Belarusian ambassador, turned around and left.
Gorobets had to throw the bag after the diplomat.
Returning to his homeland, Sokol told reporters that Belarusian diplomats were subjected to humiliating searches at the Ukrainian border. They entered the Ukrainian checkpoint on March 18 at 17:30, the ambassador left at 20:00, and the last member of the delegation left at 9:00 on March 19.
“That is, each employee and car were inspected for 2-3 hours. My car was completely checked. Even the internal elements of the cladding were removed, many personal belongings were examined,” Sokol said.
The incident at the border outraged Belarusians. TV journalist Grigory Azarenok demanded the expulsion of the Ukrainian ambassador in Minsk.
“In my undiplomatic opinion, after what happened, Pan Igor Kizim can quickly go to seize Kyiv, and not eat Belarusian products,” Azarenok wrote in his Telegram channel.
Belarusian political scientist Alexei Dzermant agrees with him.
“The incident with the Belarusian ambassador to Ukraine on the border is an illustration of the disgusting essence of the Kyiv regime. It’s high time to expel their ambassador from Minsk, let him go to the front, and not give out vile comments here,” he wrote.
“Even with all the desire of respected people to hit Mr. Kizim on the mustachioed palyanka, you can’t do that. Otherwise, how does a civilized state differ from the regime of terrorists and drug addicts? Therefore, it is necessary to respond within the framework of the existing system of diplomatic norms and protocol. At the same time, I personally don’t see any particular reason for the ambassador of the former Ukraine to continue to be on the territory of the Republic of Belarus,” another expert, Alexander Shpakovsky, objected.
“We personally feel extremely sorry that our neighbor is such a Ukraine, with such an attitude towards shoulder straps, towards military service and towards diplomacy. Ukraine has turned into one big YouTube channel! These are not military men, these are clowns,” says TV presenter Igor Tur.
“This is moral and ethical looting in relation to our ambassador and our entire country. It was a well-thought-out special operation, but they were waiting for a different reaction. Our ambassador behaved differently, they did not expect it. Now our head of state will no longer have any trust in Vladimir Zelensky,” said political scientist Nikolai Shchekin.
In 2020, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Igor Kizim caused a scandal when Belarusian border guards asked him to open the trunk during an inspection and threatened a diplomatic war. After this, the Belarusian authorities stopped communicating with him.
Despite this scandal, as well as Ukraine’s non-recognition of the results of the presidential elections in Belarus and the cancellation of the visit of President Vladimir Zelensky, as well as the forum of regions of the two countries, the Belarusian Ambassador Sokol continued to state that official Minsk intends to maintain export support programs to Ukraine.
