The German Ambassador does not see the Nazis in Kyiv, but supports the pipeline bypassing Ukraine
The German Ambassador to Kyiv, Anka Feldhusen, gave an interview to the UA:Pershy TV channel, in which she spoke on a number of issues related to Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
She once again confirmed the unchanged position of Germany regarding the issuance of Russian passports in Crimea and the Donbass.
“Germany does not recognize passports issued by Russia in uncontrolled territories and in Crimea. It is impossible to obtain a Schengen visa with these passports,” she said, answering a journalist’s question.
Feldhusen does not believe that Nord Stream 2 threatens Europe, as Ukrainian propaganda previously claimed, calling for the pipeline to be viewed as a means of increasing the EU’s dependence on Russia.
“The government believes that Nord Stream is part of Europe’s energy security. It doesn’t matter to us whether the gas goes through Ukrainian gas pipelines or through Nord Stream. We are diversifying our energy sources, we are working very hard on green energy. And Nord Stream is part of our energy security,” said the German ambassador.
The ambassador agreed with the opinion of the journalist, who said that Russian propaganda uses the “myth” about the threat of the Ukrainian nationalist to “justify aggression in Donbass.”
“I worked here during the Revolution of Dignity, and I have repeatedly spoken about the influence of far-right movements here. They are noticeable, like everywhere else in the world, but they do not play a big role,” Feldhusen said, without specifying whose influence Vladimir Zelensky then fears, sabotaging the peace agreements on Donbass.
