NATO, like the EU, is going through a crisis and is losing its most important member of the alliance – Turkey, says Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine Jan Peklo.

“The EU is now experiencing a crisis. NATO is going through the same process. But NATO is still the strongest and most important alliance in the world. But because of what happened a few months ago in Turkey, NATO is slowly losing its most important element. And it’s really scary that today we are talking about Turkish NATO officers who are asking for political asylum in Germany - because they feel that their lives are in danger,” said a Polish diplomat at a conference in Kiev.

Peklo did not forget to link the crisis processes in NATO with the machinations of Russia.

“It seems that Putin is, to a certain extent, succeeding in weakening and fragmenting the NATO alliance,” said the Polish guest.
