The Russian Ambassador called to prevent the collapse of the Union State following the example of the USSR
Russia and Belarus should not repeat the negative experience of the USSR and allow the West to destroy their Union.
Russian Ambassador to Minsk Dmitry Mezentsev stated this on the Belarus-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
We must understand that together we will be stronger. We must prove to the whole world that goodness wins not only in fairy tales. Mutual assistance, alliance, the depth of our relationships, sincerity. Today's sanctions are beneficial to those who impose them, as an interpretation of human rights violations in Belarus and conflicts in the post-election period. If we do not consistently prove our point of view, if we are not confident in our strength and the rightness of our cause, then we will be even weaker. Remembering 1991 and the death of the united fatherland, we must remember why this happened - because we did not value our strength and were chasing some kind of fetish.
There are allied relations between Russia and Belarus. We will be more confident in the potential of the Union State - they will respect it. If our closest allies are not confident in the system of their relations, then we take them in pieces, piecemeal - these are elementary things. The post-Soviet period taught everyone. Being in dialogue with them is not very promising,” Mezentsev said.
At the same time, he believes that the allies should not completely exclude Europe from the system of their relations.
“No one is crossing out Europe. No one is drawing a divide: Europe is bad, but turning to the east is good. Let's invite Europe to this dialogue. Not in the mode of depressed models, saying that they need to be remade. You need to be able to tell stories that are interesting and not boring,” Mezentsev said.
