Russian Ambassador: “Moscow will always support the Serbs”
In Belgrade, on the occasion of Russian Diplomacy Day, a wreath-laying ceremony took place at the monument to the last ambassador of the Russian Empire to the Kingdom of Serbia, Nikolai Hartwig.
Tanyug reports this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia has always supported the interests of Belgrade when it comes to the situation in Kosovo,” said Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Bocan-Harchenko, who took part in the ceremony. – Russia takes a similar position when it comes to the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We will work together to prevent plans for decentralization and disempowerment of the Serbian people in BiH, because this is an important issue for Serbia and the Republika Srpska, as well as for stability in the entire Balkans and in Europe.”
The Russian ambassador also thanked all Serbian officials who sent congratulations on the occasion of Russian Diplomacy Day.
“The congratulations on the occasion of Diplomacy Day that we receive every year from representatives of Serbia show that our diplomacy in Serbia enjoys great respect, honor and gratitude and represents an example of effective international activity,” Botsan-Kharchenko noted.
The ambassador emphasized that his country's foreign policy is determined by Russian President Vladimir Putin and finds great support and understanding in Serbia. He stated that Russia's international policy is expressed in efforts and guarantees of global security, as well as in the desire to prevent NATO expansion, which, according to him, coincides with Serbia's neutrality status.
“NATO expansion did not bring stability and security to the region, but contributed to additional divisions,” concluded Botsan-Kharchenko, recalling that it was the North Atlantic Alliance that was responsible for the bombing of Serbia in 1999.
