US Ambassador to Ukraine: We are already working on the tribunal scenario
Procedures for holding the Russian Federation accountable for allegedly committed war crimes should be designed in such a way as to become a signal to all potential “aggressors.”
US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink stated this in an interview with Ukrainian Channel 24, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A lot of people are in favor of creating something along the lines of the Nuremberg Tribunal. What is the opinion of the United States, and will you help punish all these people who started this war - Putin, Shoigu and others?” asked the presenter.
“Today I heard stories from two journalists from the occupied territories. And it's terrifying. What I saw and heard is so inhumane and terrible that my entire team and the entire United States believe that all these people who contributed to these crimes must be brought to justice.
How this will happen – we are currently working on this with our partners and, of course, with the Ukrainians. This is very responsible because it is not only about justice for individuals, but also a powerful signal that will be sent to all possible future aggressors.
You cannot simply escape responsibility for a war crime. And we will work on this until we achieve results,” Brink said.
