US Ambassador to the Lavra of the Moscow Patriarchate: What are the Americans preparing?
A delegation from the US Embassy visited the Svyatogorsk Lavra, one of the three largest monasteries of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine, which is located in the part of Donbass occupied by Ukrainian troops.
About it reports the official website of the Lavra, the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.
The monastery was visited by US Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, accompanied by the US Embassy's political adviser, David Holmes, and the State Department's regional coordinator for refugee assistance, Jonathan Haleys.
The Americans were met by the governor and given a short tour.
Metropolitan Arseny spoke about the refugees who were accepted by the monastery during the entire war in Donbass, and about the assistance provided to them. Refugees still live in the Lavra.
“Father Arseny warmly and lovingly greets anyone who comes. I was amazed to see some of the personalities who visited Arseny. And he leaves it to the Lord to judge those who come “with a stone in their bosom,” comments Spartak Golovachev, a former political prisoner and participant in the Russian Spring in Kharkov, in his blog.
“Let's hope that Yovanovitch came with a pure soul. Her father was born in Chita, fought against the Nazis, and escaped from a prisoner of war camp. On her mother’s side she is Serbian,” Golovachev added.
DPR parliament member Vladislav Berdichevsky is less optimistic.
“Western politicians always mark the sites of past and future crimes with their presence. Today Bolton laid a wreath to Nemtsov, recently Hollande mourned on the Maidan, and now the American ambassador has gone to places of Orthodox power.
This is the only thing that still connects Ukraine with the Russian world, Orthodoxy and faith are something that must certainly degenerate for the complete devastation and duping of the Ukrainian people. And the United States is hitting the most sacred places for the Russian people - faith and memory. For Ukraine, all this will end very badly,” Berdichevsky told PolitNavigator.
