The Ukrainian Ambassador wants weapons assistance from Canada
Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada Andriy Shevchenko said in an interview with the CBC television channel that Ukraine hopes to move forward negotiations with Canada regarding the provision of lethal defensive weapons and strengthening sanctions against the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We are convinced that we can make significant progress in this direction with Canada,” Shevchenko noted.
According to him, the need to strengthen military support for Ukraine is also understood in the United States.
“Many in Washington understand the enormous need for more sanctions against Russia and assistance to Ukraine with defensive weapons,” the ambassador said.
He is confident that the position of the United States and Canada, which have refrained from taking these steps, will change.
“There is a growing consensus that pressure on Russia needs to be increased,” Shevchenko emphasized.
Earlier, Shevchenko said that Ukraine needs Canada's lethal weapons just as much as it did in 2014, when it first made such a request.
