Brussels - Kyiv, December 01 (PolitNavigator, Vasily Ablyazimov) - “No one can stop Kiev from joining the NATO bloc,” - this is how Ukrainian Ambassador to the EU Konstantin Eliseev responded in a harsh tone and not at all diplomatically to the words of German Foreign Minister Frank- Walter Steinmeier on the impossibility of Ukraine joining the alliance, reported by the German Die Welt.

Die Welt writes that Kyiv was especially disappointed by the remark of Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who rejected Ukraine's membership in NATO earlier last week.
Ukraine's Ambassador to the EU in Brussels, Konstantin Eliseev, literally said the following: “I cannot understand why German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier excludes NATO membership for Ukraine.” Steinmeier found this remark "surprising and disappointing."
“Each partner country, including Germany, must respect the choice of a sovereign country like Ukraine. No country has the right to obstruct Ukraine’s path to NATO, and thus to a better future,” the representative of Kyiv in Brussels is confident.
Last Monday, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said that his compatriots should decide in a referendum whether to join NATO or not. Moscow warns Kyiv not to take steps towards NATO and calls for adherence to existing legal provisions on the non-bloc state. Steinmeier's refusal to Ukraine to join NATO is largely shared by French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.
