The Ukrainian Ambassador to NATO scolds the Hungarians: “they are taking the situation to the point of absurdity”
Ukraine is fully ready to participate in the NATO summit, but Hungary continues to look for reasons to block this issue, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by the head of the Ukrainian Mission to NATO Vadim Prystaiko.
“Participation in the summit is important and interesting for us. To do this, we carry out all the necessary steps. How they are interpreted and perceived by the Hungarian side - this really is a serious problem. Hungary is actually taking the situation to the point of absurdity; is collecting more and more new arguments that go far beyond the scope of the law on education,” Prystaiko said.
He also clarified that the Alliance considers the existing problem a bilateral issue that should not be brought to the NATO international forum.
As previously reported, Hungary vetoed a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO commission in Brussels at the level of foreign ministers, which was supposed to take place this week. Previously, Hungary blocked a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO commission, which was supposed to take place on February 14-15, and before that, the convening of the commission in December 2017.
Hungary announced that it will not support Ukraine’s rapprochement with Europe until the education law signed by the President of Ukraine on September 25, 2017 is repealed.
