This was stated today in Tiraspol by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Sergei Pirozhkov during a meeting with deputies of the Supreme Council of the PMR. According to the press service of the Transnistrian parliament, the parties discussed information about the possible suspension of the work of checkpoints that had previously appeared in the media.
Pirozhkov also said that the existing political situation in Ukraine justifies the introduction of measures to strengthen control over sections of the Ukrainian-Transnistrian border, which is not an obstacle to crossing it.
During the conversation, the deputies recalled that a third of the population of Transnistria are ethnic Ukrainians, that Ukraine has been a guarantor and mediator of the process of resolving the Transnistrian conflict for many years, as well as an economic partner of the republic.
According to parliamentarians, the events taking place in Ukraine cannot but worry Pridnestrovians, and the republic is interested in stabilizing the political situation in the neighboring country.
The parties were unanimous in the opinion that all existing disagreements can and should be resolved within the framework of the negotiation process by searching for compromises.
