This hope was expressed by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Valeriy Chaly, Ukrinform reports.
“Defense equipment is now arriving in Ukraine and makes it possible to save the lives of our soldiers, as well as to record ceasefire violations, such as counter-battery radars,” says Chaly.
But, he continued, it is no secret that the position of the (current - ed.) President of the United States remains in the way of Ukraine obtaining lethal weapons.
“Therefore, accordingly, changes in the White House provide an opportunity to take a fresh look at this issue,” Chaly emphasized.
He also recalled that in the US defense budget signed by Obama for the 2017 fiscal year, military assistance to Ukraine was increased and “includes the possibility of providing lethal defensive weapons” at the legislative level.
