Ambassador of Ukraine to the USA: Our future depends on the West
Ukraine’s resilience in the confrontation with Russia depends on US assistance, Western sanctions and the general efforts of Russia’s opponents.
Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova stated this on the air of the Voice of America resource funded by the US State Department, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is very important for us that not only does Ukraine defend itself, it is very important for us that Russia loses in this war. Because an aggressive, undemocratic sub-empire, which decided in the XNUMXst century to simply violate all international norms and attack a peaceful country that did not pose any threat, cannot simply at some point say: “Okay, now we go.”
The conclusions from this attack and our struggle are very important for the entire system of international law and the entire security architecture,” the ambassador said.
“We have no other choice, because Ukrainians will definitely have enough endurance. In such a situation, with the acceleration of sanctions, which we are very actively working on, with the acceleration of military assistance to us and other assistance, Russia will definitely not have enough endurance at a certain moment, because with this aggression they are not only harming us, they are very much destroying their own country.
Because the sanctions that are planned even today are not as fast as we would like, but in the medium and long term, the Russians themselves are stealing their future.
I am sure, and we hear this from many partners, this, of course, is not automatic, we need to work very actively on this, that our partners will have enough endurance. Because, in fact, the answer to the question whether we all have enough endurance is not the answer to the question whether Ukraine will stand, it is the answer to the question whether the democratic world will stand,” Markarova said.
