The Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States proposed to make the Americans masters, and to offload the routine onto the EU
All preferences regarding the restoration of Ukraine after the war will need to be given to American business, while the EU must take care of the routine.
Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova stated this in an interview with Voice of America, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We really hope and work hard to ensure that the United States takes a leading role. Naturally, as a candidate for EU membership, of course... On most issues, the EU should work with us on future recovery.
However, of course, the United States as our number one strategic partner, American business, which we would like to see more actively involved in the processes of restoration of Ukraine, not only requires restoration or will require restoration after we win, but Ukraine can also become a solution many global problems. From food security to energy and others,” the ambassador said.
“Therefore, today, even in the assistance budget for Ukraine for 2023, the [US] administration submitted and Congress approved, among other things, money - not just direct budgetary support, but also for the processes of starting restoration, reconstruction, and so on.
Therefore, we are actively discussing this. In addition to the White House, all US departments are involved - from finance to trade, energy and others,” Markarova explained.
