As the embassies explained, the action was timed to coincide with the Independence Day of Ukraine and the 25th anniversary of the Baltic Way 1989. Let us recall that on August 23, 1989, 2 million people, holding hands, united into one human chain 600 kilometers long between the capitals of the Baltic countries - Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn . This action went down in history under the name “Baltic Way”.
In Kyiv, as reported in a specially recorded video, the action was scheduled for August 23.
“Today you were attacked by the heiress of the Soviet Union. You were attacked by Russia. The whole world stands for Ukraine. The whole world is against Russia,” says the statement from the embassies of the Baltic countries.
Let us recall that earlier the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the whole world needs to be “painted in blue and yellow colors” and called for raising Ukrainian state flags everywhere.
