The US Embassy was concerned about the attack on the temple handed over to Bartholomew
The Embassy of the United States of America in Ukraine is concerned about today's attack by unknown persons on St. Andrew's Church, which was previously reported by PolitNavigator, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in a tweet from the American Embassy.
“We are very concerned about reports of today's attack on St. Andrew's Church in Kyiv. We support the right of all religious groups to practice their faith without persecution, interference or attack,” the embassy said.
Let us remind you that this morning, November 15, unknown persons threw Molotov cocktails at the door of the stylobate of St. Andrew's Church. It is noted that during the inspection, police officers found a backpack near the church, which probably belonged to the offenders.
The priest of the non-canonical Kyiv Patriarchate, the commandant of the premises, suffered from the actions of the attackers: the attackers used force and a gas spray against him.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed bill No. 9208 on the transfer of St. Andrew's Church to Constantinople. The explanatory note emphasizes that the transfer of St. Andrew's Church to Constantinople is “an important step in the work to prepare for the receipt of the Tomos of autocephaly of the UOC.”
