This was stated by the head of the Main Police Department in the Donetsk region, Vyacheslav Abroskin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Yesterday, my friends from the US Embassy handed over 70 Garrett mobile metal detectors to the Donetsk region police, which will soon be handed over to police officers to work at stop control points - a kind of outposts,” Abroskin wrote on his Facebook page.
“This will make it possible to more effectively detect weapons and ammunition that should not fall from the ATO zone, Donetsk and Lugansk regions, into peaceful regions of Ukraine. We will also use mobile metal detectors during public events in the region for greater safety of civilians,” he assures.
The head of the regional police said that two months ago, while talking with the head of the law enforcement department of the US Embassy in Ukraine (INL), Christopher Smith, he mentioned among the problematic issues the lack of a sufficient number of metal detectors at checkpoints.
