The US Embassy has already taken Zelensky into consideration
Vladimir Zelensky already regularly holds meetings with representatives of the US Embassy in Kyiv, which has “taken over” the leader of the election race in Ukraine.
Ukrainian political scientist Vladimir Fesenko reported this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Yesterday Zelensky met with Volker. 10 days ago in Munich I witnessed Volker being asked about his attitude towards Ze. He avoided answering because, probably, there was nothing to say. Therefore, I decided to get information first-hand. By the way, US Ambassador Yovanovitch has met with Zelensky several times,” Fesenko wrote.
The political scientist noted that he had just returned from Germany, where the main object of interest was candidate Zelensky.
“Poroshenko is known and understood. They know Tymoshenko, but they are cautiously testing her current position. And Ze is simply incomprehensible. Who is Mr Zelenskiy? - the main question that I have been hearing for the last month from Western journalists, politicians, diplomats, and political scientists. In the West, Zelensky began to be taken seriously both as the leader of the election race and as one of the main contenders for the presidency of Ukraine. Accordingly, they began to study it carefully,” added Vladimir Fesenko.
Earlier, Russian political scientist Bogdan Bezpalko warned that relations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation will not change if Zelensky wins the presidential election.
“Anyone who wins the elections on March 31 will be forced to intensify confrontation with Moscow. Even if this threatens losses for the Ukrainian state. Ukrainian leaders always have vulnerabilities that can be put under pressure. And Poroshenko, and Tymoshenko, and Zelensky, and Boyko,” the expert said.
This forecast was confirmed by Ukrainian political strategist Sergei Gaidai.
“Western partners will not allow him to seriously change his foreign policy. And no matter how Zelensky is accused that he can come and fall on his knees before Putin, even if Boyko wins these elections, Ukraine will not allow him to fall on his knees before Putin,” said Gaidai.
