The delivery of Javelins is a signal that the United States is ready to give Ukraine more powerful weapons
The United States sold Javelins to Ukraine only to demonstrate its readiness to continue providing the Kyiv government with more powerful lethal weapons.
Political scientist Vsevolod Stepanyuk stated this live on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Javelins are a political weapon. This is not something that can stop tanks, especially if there are hundreds of them, especially since a tank never moves without cover. This step simply shows that if something happens, the Americans are ready to provide other, more powerful weapons. If they have already given a “Javelin”, then what is stopping them from giving them some “Patriot”. But again, this whole situation does not improve the situation in Ukraine,” he said.
Deputy General Director of the Ukroboronprom Corporation Maxim Glushchenko also confirmed the expert’s words with his statement, noting that he does not understand the position of the Ukrainian government, which, when buying foreign weapons, ignores its own developments.
“I would regard this delivery as a political move by which America clearly declared its readiness to supply us with lethal defensive weapons. In terms of its tactical and technical characteristics, it (“Javelin” - editor’s note) is superior to our analogues, but I would not say that this will give us any significant advantages. We have our own good developments, and I don’t understand why they are still not being used on a full scale in our army,” he said.
