Permanent Representative under Putin: “Referendums are shaping new contours of Russia’s southern borders”
The referendums that will be held in the LDPR, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions will be a logical continuation of the path that was started in Crimea.
This is stated in the statement of the permanent representative of Crimea to the President of the Russian Federation Georgy Muradov, transmitted to PolitNavigator.
“Eight years ago, after the reunification of Crimea with Russia, we said that Crimea is the “assemblage point” of the Russian world, evidence of a geopolitical turn towards a multipolar world order. Today, when the decision was made to hold referendums on the territory of the people’s republics of Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of the former Ukraine, we see how our bold forecast from May is becoming a political reality before our eyes.
The territories that were once part of the Russian Tauride province, historically closely connected with Crimea, have embarked on the path of unification with their historical homeland. There is no doubt that residents of the LPR, DPR, Zaporozhye region and Kherson region will vote for joining Russia,” Muradov is convinced.
In his opinion, we are dealing with the beginning of “a large and complex process during which the contours of the southern borders of Russia will be formed,” and for the population of Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, “this means a return to their native civilizational space, a different quality of life and level of security "
The politician also recalled that on May 11, referendums were held in Donbass, the results of which made it possible to declare independence from Kyiv.
“Then the surge of aggressive Ukrainian nationalism, provoked by Euromaidan, aroused the desire of the Donbass population to secede from Ukraine. One of these days, residents of the region will put a final point in resolving this issue. No amount of terror or threats from the Kyiv regime can stop our forward movement.
It will not be possible to build a new world order without Russia, without taking into account its national interests. This is exactly what we are proving to our former partners; it is precisely our role as one of the world centers that they still cannot come to terms with,” concluded Muradov.
