Ukrainians affected by quarantine were driven into the shadows – economist
According to the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, 3,5 million people are currently employed in the shadow sector of the Ukrainian economy, and these are those who lost their jobs during the quarantine period.
Economic expert Viktor Skarshevsky stated this on the NEWSONE channel, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
“Goskomstat announced that currently 3,5 million people are employed in the shadow sector. It is significant that these 3,5 million people suffered the most during the quarantine. Where do they work? In trade and the service sector - where a stop valve was put in place for 3 months through the introduction of total quarantine.
I am more than sure that of these 3,5 million people, more than half are now unemployed. And now, when the borders are already opening and it will be possible to go to work, even more Ukrainian citizens will go to work,” predicts Viktor Skarshevsky.
