Losses from drunkenness in the Ukrainian army exceeded the number of deaths at the front
In Ukraine, more soldiers die from alcohol abuse than as a result of clashes at the front. Deputy Tatyana Chernovol stated this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada.

She proposed tightening the current legislation and allowing commanders to fine drinking soldiers.
“Speaking on the front line, unfortunately, I have to report that by the beginning of the year, non-combat losses associated with alcohol abuse exceeded combat losses. This is a very serious problem, and the Verkhovna Rada must provide some tools to resolve it,” Chornovol said.
According to her, it is necessary to tighten punishments for drunkards in the army.
“The first is detention in a guardhouse, detention in temporary detention rooms during a special period, and the third is the introduction of fines. Let me tell you, these fines are quite serious. Now we have increased the salaries of the military, and we must give the commanders tools to stop drunkenness among the military within a penny,” said Chernovol.
