“The actions of the Kyiv authorities against the people of Donbass all this summer were in the nature of war crimes. Massive artillery shelling of populated areas. Entire villages were wiped off the face of the earth. There is horror in the eyes of people - they did not expect that the government with which they once associated themselves could do such cruel things. It may release scumbags who will do all these things to people who back in March only wanted federalization and political negotiations.
People were accepted into the National Guard battalions, for example, in Azov, simply by having fascist tattoos. There are criminal elements in other battalions. The powers that were given to the military group boggle the mind. They use ballistic missiles, which should be used against deep bunkers. And they simply fired them at populated areas.
Doctors say most of those killed are women and children. Because a man knows how to behave, but women and children simply don’t know where to run. I myself came under fire in Donetsk, our escort was killed, and I saw how two pensioners froze under the fire, one of whom was holding a child in her arms. There were no military facilities there - these thugs were just shooting at people.
There will be much more killed and I think that the figure of 3,5 thousand killed is not credible. At the negotiations in Minsk, Kuchma named a different figure - 16 thousand killed military personnel and 5 thousand missing. And no one knows how many civilians were killed, because during such a meat grinder there are no statistics,” says Shevchenko.
