Hastened to support Trump: The persecution of Ukraine’s favorite begins in the USA
Former adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Andrei Illarionov, who emigrated to the United States and turned into a fierce critic of the Kremlin and a frequent guest on Ukrainian television channels, paid for supporting Donald Trump.
This was reported by the blog of the editor-in-chief of the magazine “Russia in Global Affairs” Fyodor Lukyanov.
“What a delight! The Cato Institute in Washington, where Andrei Illarionov is a senior fellow, is investigating his extensive personal blog post siding with Trump supporters who stormed the Capitol and questioning the integrity of the American political system and the integrity of the election results. According to the institute, this is the spread of “conspiracy theories.” Worse, Illarionov criticizes the “provocations” of the Democrats and the BLM movement, which have driven the Trumpists into a “trap.” It’s clear that reminders that Andrei Illarionov was Putin’s adviser sound special in this context,” the report notes.
The head of Rossotrudnichestvo, Evgeny Primakov, characterizes the situation as “an analysis of the personal file of Komsomol member Illarionov at the party activist of the Cato Institute in Washington.”
“Who would have thought that I fell under the steamroller of merciless democratic sincerity in the USA? - liberal fugitive from Russia Andrei Illarionov. He dared to defend Trump on his blog and claim that everyone in the United States has the right to vote. Well, aren't you impudent? It is interesting that Illarionov was immediately remembered that he was an adviser to the GDP. Not for nothing!” – Primakov remarks sarcastically.
Illarionov, in an interview with Ukrainian TV in the winter of 2014, a few days before the end of the Olympics in Sochi, predicted Ukraine’s loss of Crimea and Sevastopol.
