Meat consumption in Ukraine is below physiological norms: 10 million people have already fled abroad
As a result of the economic crisis after the Euromaidan, meat consumption in Ukraine fell below physiological norms; about 10 million Ukrainian citizens went abroad in the years after the coup.
Such data were announced by ex-Prime Minister Mykola Azarov at a press conference in Moscow.

“If everything was good and wonderful in Ukraine, then we could fish, write memoirs and forget about Ukraine. Unfortunately, an unprecedented tragedy is happening in Ukraine. It has no analogues in world history.
In the last 4 years alone, almost 10 million people have left Ukraine. In Ukrainian families, husbands left to earn some pennies, rarely, when in human conditions. And thanks to these pennies they support their families.
Our meat consumption is below physiological norms, when could this happen?
When I name numbers, they are very poorly perceived by the people. But I'll name it anyway. During Soviet times, Ukraine generated 300 billion kilowatt-hours per year. Is it a lot or a little? We produced more per capita than Germany. And now – 110 billion. This means that we have deprived our industry of prospects and development. Because the most high-tech industry requires a huge amount of electricity,” Azarov said.
