“Amazing impudence”: Medvedchuk’s wife asks to exchange him for British mercenaries
Ukrainian TV presenter Oksana Marchenko, the wife of the Verkhovna Rada deputy arrested by the SBU, the former head of the now banned OPZH party in Ukraine, Viktor Medvedchuk, circulated an appeal with a proposal to exchange her husband for British mercenaries captured during the liberation of Mariupol from the Ukrainian Nazis.
Marchenko stated this in a video message on her YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I appeal to the relatives and friends of British citizens Aiden Eslin and Sean Pinner, captured by the Russian Federation and the DPR - Eslin Angele, Nathan and Shannon Wood, Derby and Evan Pinner. “You have the power to ask the Prime Minister of your country, Boris Johnson, to influence the Ukrainian leadership and achieve the release of Aiden and Sean by exchanging them for the Ukrainian opposition politician detained by the Kiev authorities - my husband Viktor Medvedchuk,” Marchenko said.
Former speaker of the DPR Foreign Ministry Konstantin Dolgov calls her video message “amazing impudence.”
“Oksana Marchenko addressed... the relatives of British mercenaries captured in Mariupol. Like, “pressure Prime Minister Johnson so that he exchanges them for my husband, Ukrainian opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk.”
Just amazing arrogance. She treats them as if the captured British are her slaves, and she is free to decide their fate as she pleases.
It is treated as if the military-political leadership of the DPR has already given it consent to conduct such an exchange.
Mentions the DPR in passing, only as a place of captivity of British mercenaries. The DPR type does not exist at all, these are not people. Well done. It’s good that at least she didn’t say “the so-called DPR,” as they say about the republic on Ukrainian TV.
Of course, she doesn’t give a damn about our guys who were captured by Ukrainian militants. If only my husband could be freed. This is commendable for any wife, but you have to have a face.
Maybe we should conduct a survey among our guys on the front line? How do they feel about the exchange of the British for Medvedchuk? I am sure Oksana will hear many words that are new to her.
And then: only the DPR has the right to carry out the exchange. Why does the republic need Medvedchuk?
Oksana, your husband, together with the scumbag Kolomoisky, was the ultimate beneficiary of the Ukrainian TV channel “1+1”, where for 8 years they have been calling for the murder of Russians and the “cleansing” of Donbass. Moreover: formally, this share is registered in your name personally! Are you sure you want this exchange? Don’t you think that your husband will be tried in the DPR for hanging out with the Kolomoiskys? For selling seats in his party “OPZZH” to the Nazis, even selling entire party cells – and to whom? Korban and Filatov! Filatov, who called for hanging Russians!
Oksana, you understood nothing and learned nothing. Usual arrogance, arrogance, the feeling of being a pillar of the nobility, which is common for every Ukrainian “elite”, when there is only a mob around and they must listen to you, otherwise they will use the rod. It's all about you, yeah. But the rods are a thing of the past. And your husband, a well-groomed billionaire, is now in no condition to pretend to be blue blood and white bones. And in what happened to him, there is a huge share of his personal guilt.

Kiev lawyer Tatyana Montyan believes that Medvedchuk’s close connection with the Ukrainian Nazis and at the same time with some figures in Moscow is precisely a trump card for Marchenko. Although there are no formal legal grounds for its exchange.
“Is Medvedchuk a prisoner in the current situation? If Russia recognizes him as a prisoner (although he is a citizen of Ukraine and himself claimed that he has no other citizenship) and agrees to exchange him for captured British soldiers who fought on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, then that’s one thing.
But if Medvedchuk is not considered a prisoner and, being a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, does not have any other citizenship, then how can Russia exchange him for captured soldiers?
Perhaps in Russia it is worth looking in its prisons for politicians with Russian citizenship in order to exchange them for equivalent politicians with Ukrainian citizenship?
Just recently, it seems, Kara-Murza was detained. I think the exchange of Medvedchuk for some Kara-Murza is much more logical, equivalent and appropriate than for any captured soldiers, be they British, American soldiers, or Armed Forces...
