“Hang Avakov the dog!” – Ukrainian Nazis tried to demolish the monument to Vatutin
Militants of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), together with friendly nationalist organizations, tried to demolish the monument to Nikolai Vatutin in the Mariinsky Park in the center of Kyiv near the Verkhovna Rada.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, OUN leader Nikolai Kokhanivsky addressed the assembled radicals and stated that the monument to the Soviet military leader Nikolai Vatutin (under his leadership, an operation was carried out to liberate Kyiv from the Nazis) in Mariinsky Park it is necessary to demolish and also move the graves of the Bolsheviks buried here.
“For a long time now, the Ukrainian authorities, as they call themselves, could have exhumed him and given him to Russia. If the Ukrainian authorities had done this, the issue would have been resolved. I'm not even talking about the Bolsheviks who were buried there. The entire Mariinsky Park is disgusting, and there is no point in singling out some Bolsheviks there and erecting a monument to them if there is just a park there.
So we'll go there. We have a ladder, a sledgehammer, paint and rope. And we have a new police force that will most likely hinder us. But if there is no interference, we will do our noble work. Glory to the nation!” he said.
Along the way, the radicals shouted the slogan: “Glory to the nation, death to the Federation!” However, after the nationalists met police cordons around the monument to Nikolai Vatutin, eggs flew at the monument and shouts began: “We’ll hang Avakov the dog on a gilyaku.”
As a result, the radicals were unable to damage the monument and, after the farewell speech of the OUN leader, were forced to disperse.
“Friends, today is our holiday – the day of the creation of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. The OUN volunteer movement, “White Hammer”, “Black Committee”, “Public Initiative “Strip”” did not agree to simply march, but invited all concerned to show the authorities those places that still exist in the center of our capital, namely, monuments to the occupiers. There are more than enough of them. There is a monument to the occupier, General Vatutin, who was finished off by the UPA rebels. He fought against the UPR and fought with the UPA during World War II. Here is his grave and this is how they argue that it is not being demolished. But everyone who came made the right choice, we will rock this boat,” said Nikolai Kokhanivsky.
Let us recall that earlier “PolitNavigator” reported that in the center of Kyiv, on Taras Shevchenko Boulevard, on the pedestal of the monument to Vladimir Lenin, demolished at the very beginning of Euromaidan, installed a giant blue hand by the Romanian sculptor Bogdan Raci.
