The “belt of instability” will tighten around the perimeter of Russia even tighter” – forecast
Under new US President Joseph Biden, Washington will focus on a new form of Cold War with Russia as the main enemy.
Political scientist Avtandil Tsuladze writes about this, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“The honorary title of “America's enemy number one” under Biden will not be awarded to China, but to Russia. There is no doubt about this, since he spoke publicly on this matter during the election campaign,” the author notes.
According to him, in the post-Soviet space, Russia “began to lose the initiative under “our” Trump, and, most likely, the process will accelerate under Joe Biden.”
“The protracted political crisis in Belarus, the new pro-European president of Moldova, the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, the events in Kyrgyzstan - pockets of instability encircle Russia and put it in a position of blind defense. Joe Biden will be more active than Donald Trump in supporting pro-Western circles in post-Soviet countries. The “belt of instability” will tighten around the perimeter of Russia even tighter,” the expert predicts.
He believes that under Biden, systemic pressure will be exerted on Russia in various directions.
“Trump was focused on the economic confrontation with China, and approached “containing Russia” carelessly. For Biden, a new edition of the “cold war” with Russia is one of the key directions of foreign policy,” sums up Tsuladze.
