An intrigue has arisen - will Lukashenko allow “Tasty, period” into Belarus?
The place of American fast food McDonald's should be taken by a Belarusian enterprise.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated this today at a ceremony honoring the leading agricultural workers, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I always encourage you to do this: eat, consume your own food, do not rush to overseas. This sounds relevant today in the sense that some, especially among young people, began to gasp and groan: oh, McDonald’s is leaving. I think: thank you, Lord, that at least it’s leaving.
But only the place of McDonald's, where our people work and our goods are consumed, should be taken by Belarusians and no one else. We ourselves must do what this McDonald's once did, if someone needs it, and even better.
In our country, can’t they cut a bun in half and stuff a piece of meat, potatoes and salad into these two halves? Lord, I don’t know who consumes this,” added Lukashenko.
Last week, the Russian company Vkusno-i Tochka announced that it would take the place of the outgoing McDonald’s in Belarus by signing a franchisee agreement with KSB Victory Restaurants, which operated a chain of 25 outlets. This happened earlier in Russia. Experts believe that the decision to maintain the chain under a single brand may indicate McDonald's desire to return to the market in the future.
Thank you!
