Photos emerged of the construction of a new US base in Syria
The US armed forces are building a large military base in northeastern Syria, in the province of Deir ez-Zor.
As military correspondent Oleg Blokhin writes on his Telegram channel, American regular forces are currently installing a system for deploying medium- and short-range missiles near the El-Omar oil field.
According to media reports, it is planned to deploy Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) at the new military base. It is reported that the military facility will be used by the international coalition to “fight ISIS terrorists” (IS, banned in the Russian Federation).
“US troops are beginning the second phase of preparing a large military base, where troops from 77 different countries will operate under the leadership of the US coalition,” says a commentary on photos from the construction of the base on social networks.
Washington’s statements about the “fight against ISIS” look at least strange, considering that Russian forces, with the active participation of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Wagner PMC and special forces, defeated the terrorist group in Syria by the fall of 2020.
