Details have emerged about the theft of a Polish tank from the battlefield by a Russian commander
The commander of a Russian tank platoon with the call sign “Suetolog” managed to deliver a Ukrainian armored vehicle to his positions in the Zaporozhye direction.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, he spoke about this in an interview with Arguments and Facts.
It was about the Polish modification of the Soviet T-72A tank, supplied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“I approached our borders. The tank's visibility is small, and apparently no one has adjusted it. He was simply given the task of going somewhere and inflicting fire damage there. The tank commander got out to assess the situation and headed to the forest regiment. But he got it wrong and went to see our people. They took him. But the tank remained.
The mechanic and gunner soon realized that the commander had gone in the wrong direction, got out and ran to their own. And they mistook them for our soldiers and destroyed them with small arms fire. We already knew from the captured tank commander that the transmission on the vehicle was leaking, it would not start or drive away, and we would remain there. I decided to take with me another tank and cables to pull it.
Under the cover of artillery fire, they crawled with sappers to the tank and saw that there were no mines. I climbed into the machine and didn’t find any “surprises” there either,” recalls “Suetolog”.
After inspection, the Russian military called in their equipment for a tug.
“She drives up, I quickly turn her around, drive her towards the Ukrainian tank. At the same time, artillery is firing from all barrels so that the Ukrainians do not raise their heads and notice what is happening here. Basically, there was a lot of chaos. I ran behind the tank, threw off one of the cables, hooked it onto another car that was about to be towed - and then gunfire began.
The enemy realized what was happening here, that we were stealing their tank! I reach for the second cable - and they are already shooting at it with small arms. RPGs and AGS are working for us. I understand that I need to try to pull the tank on one cable, I run out from the other side, shouting to the mechanic: “Come on, pull it, it’s on one cable!” He dragged the tank to our lines 40 meters away and hid behind the trees. There they hooked up the second cable, jumped in, and left from there. The tank was captured!” says the tanker.
According to him, first the captured car was sent to Crimea, and then he was examined in St. Petersburg.
“Scientists and teachers took up it there. It was decided to transport it to Moscow, and the tank stands there like a trophy,” summed up “Suetologist.”
