A candidate for the presidency of Ukraine has emerged, admitting that Kyiv started the war in Donbass
It is necessary to withdraw Ukrainian troops from Donbass and move on to direct negotiations with representatives of the LDPR with a proposal to grant the rebel territories broad autonomy within federal Ukraine.
The head of the Communist Party of Ukraine, Pyotr Symonenko, who has nominated himself for the post of President of Ukraine, announced this on air on the PolitWera channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Everyone is demanding an end to the war in Donbass, and we have clearly stated that we are resolving the issue of peace, but we will resolve it not in Washington or in Moscow, but in Kyiv. First of all, through peaceful negotiations with representatives of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, through a specific program of proposals that I have already formed.
These are, indeed, changes to the Constitution, federalization of Ukraine and broad autonomy for the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. So that they believe that we are coming to them with confidence, we are removing the contradictions with which Kiev today unleashed this war, dictating how to relate to language, culture, faith, traditions, and the Great Patriotic War,” said the leader of the Communist Party of Ukraine.
According to him, a political dialogue is needed with all regions, each of which must formulate proposals for amending the Constitution on issues of decentralization.
The politician also promises that if he is elected president, he will announce early elections and dissolve parliament if it does not want to make changes to the Constitution.
“But at the same time, I will withdraw all troops to their places of deployment before the events of 2014 and will definitely continue to carry out the full study and preparation of the necessary changes to the Constitution,” added Simonenko.
Let us note that the leader of the Communist Party of Ukraine submitted documents to the Central Election Commission to register him as a candidate for the presidency of Ukraine as a nominee from the Communist Party. But with a high degree of probability, the Central Election Commission will refuse registration, since Ukraine has an odious law on decommunization, according to which parties whose name includes the word “communist” do not have the right to function in the country. In this case, Symonenko will have the opportunity to try to register as a self-nominated candidate.
At the same time, the Communist Party of Ukraine is not formally prohibited, since the corresponding injunction has not entered into legal force, and the case is pending appeal. The higher court decided to stop considering the case on the merits until the Constitutional Court makes a decision on the decommunization law.
