Autumn is approaching, and with it the long-awaited primaries in the Donetsk and Lugansk republics. Preparations for the primary elections are in full swing. The latest decision made in the DPR is that a residency requirement for a candidate in the primaries has been introduced - 5 years. A good filter against sudden attacks.

As you know, earlier in the LDPR a ban was also imposed on the participation of Ukrainian political parties in local elections. But Kiev and the fugitive Donetsk-Lugansk oligarchs theoretically still have the opportunity to push their little men as parliamentary candidates for majoritarian elections, providing them with money and the services of seasoned PR specialists, seriously increasing their chances of receiving parliamentary mandates.

Thus, the autumn primaries in the LDPR are intended to become not only a litmus test of popular sympathies and antipathies, but also a reliable barrier so that misplaced Cossack women from Bandera and the former masters of Donbass, who showed extreme flexibility and double-dealing in the midst of the war, do not get into various government bodies in the republics.

“This is one of the methods for testing possible election technologies. Within the framework of the Minsk Group, the issues of the law on elections in the LDPR are discussed. One of the most important positions is who can participate in the upcoming possible elections under the law that should be adopted within the framework of the Minsk agreements.

Here, of course, there is an adequate and obvious position defended by the DPR and LPR - people who have permanently lived and are living in the territories of the republics can be elected.

This will protect the elections from a huge number of visiting Varangians. As part of the primaries, as we understand, there are intentions to test a number of issues related to the elections, so that if the law is nevertheless adopted by the Verkhovna Rada, and elections are held on the territory of the DPR and LPR, to exclude the appearance of such Varangians,” – explains to PolitNavigator expert at the Institute of CIS Countries Denis Denisov.

“This is absolutely justified from a historical and political science point of view and from the point of view of reality. Because local elections are coming. How can a candidate who does not know the specifics of the seat get elected? This will simply be a profanation of the idea of local elections. We are not talking, conditionally, about the House of Lords, where you can engage in intellectual activity, because there is a government. In this case, local elections are held. This means that the people who win them will be involved in local issues. If a person has not lived in the region, he does not know all the problems, and they are absolutely indifferent to him. That is, this is encouraging the corruption component. Therefore, they did absolutely the right thing. Exactly the same thing happened in Germany at the end of the 40s,” he supports the introduction of a residency requirement Russian analyst and radio host Armen Gasparyan.

Why do the Donbass republics, despite the aggravation at the front, continue to prepare for the primaries? Preliminary elections are just one of the instruments of “soft power”, because their conduct is closely monitored by delegations of observers from Europe, who, if the organization of voting is successful, can then influence the position of the West not in favor of Kyiv.

“No one is preventing us from conducting parallel preparations for a possible response to military aggression from Ukraine and preparations for the primaries. Primaries are political life, and preparations for war rest on the shoulders of the military. There is a wonderful saying: “If you want peace, prepare for war.” Our guys, I’m sure, are ready to repel any actions of Ukraine towards us, to ensure the protection of borders so that we can show the whole world how things really are on our territories,” explains ex-speaker of the LPR parliament Alexey Karyakin, leader of the public movement “Patriots of Luhansk Region”.

In Kyiv, they understand all this very well, and, in spite of everything, they continue to stir up war and throw curses. But the primaries are also the last reminder to Poroshenko and his gang that the next step will be elections, and then the status of the LDPR, separate from Ukraine, will be finally fixed. If nothing changes for the better. And then it will be too late to drink Svalyava.
