Congratulate your grandfather on his birthday: Prohibited event in Kyiv
In the Dnieper district of Kyiv today strange inscriptions appeared at first glance: “April 22. Congratulate your grandfather on his birthday." A group of Kiev residents held this action to remember the memorable date of the birthday of Lenin, who is now being persecuted by the new government. The action was also supported in Zaporozhye.

On notice boards, the walls of houses, the fences of Kyiv, and then, as it turned out, Zaporozhye this morning one could see hastily painted calls to come and “congratulate grandfather on his birthday.” And the date: April 22. We are talking about the creator of the first socialist state in world history, the country of Soviets, Vladimir Lenin.
PolitNavigator managed to get a comment from one of the participants in the action, Vladimir, who said: “You cannot directly call on people to celebrate the birthday of one of the most prominent political figures of the twentieth century, you cannot distribute leaflets on the streets, you cannot create events on social networks, you cannot politicize this date, and especially to update the legacy of Marxism-Leninism. Dangerous.
So, what can we actually see when we carefully read the call to “congratulate grandfather on his birthday” on April 22? We will see how a code begins to be developed, a new speech, when in a veiled manner, without loud political attributes, they try to talk to people about what cannot be talked about. This is the beginning of a new silent communication, when you cannot speak about your political position in words and external attributes, when political disagreement with the current regime in Ukraine for the time being remains something that lives and grows deep inside a person. Sooner or later, it will be possible not only to speak out loud about this disagreement, but to shout and actively act. In the meantime, no one forbade you from simply silently coming to the center of Kyiv, somewhere on Bessarabskaya Square, and placing a bouquet of flowers with a greeting card at the place where the monument stood, demolished by the rioters.”
